Dorothy I. Eichelberger

Dorothy I. (Warsing) Eichelberger, 91, resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Wells Tannery, died Saturday, November 22, 2008.

She was born January 14, 1917, in Wells Tannery, Pa., a daughter of the late Howard and Zola (Barnett) Warsing .

On September 30, 1939, in Allentown, Pa., she married Kenneth R. Eichelberger. He preceded her in passing away on November 6, 2002.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth "Ronnie" Eichelberger, married to Sonja (Mearkle) of Wells Tannery, Pa.; and daughters: Elaine, married to James Sheffield of Camp Hill, Pa.; and Janice married to Greg Misch of Stow, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Sheila (Eichelberger) Walsky, Givirins, Switzerland; Ron Eichelberger, Avon Lake, Ohio; Jim Sheffield, Camp Hill; Jon Sheffield, Camp Hill; Joy (Sheffield) Roberts, Landenburg, Pa.; Emily Misch, Boston, Mass.; Rebecca Misch, Oxford, Ohio; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Forney, Lewisberry, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Peterson.

She was a 1935 graduate of Smith High School in Hopewell, Pa., and was a lifetime member of Wells Valley Presbyterian Church where she was active in many activities and the choir.

A devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother, she was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Wells Valley Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, with Rev. Jerry McCuller officiating.

Akers Funeral Home, Everett, was in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be held at Wells Valley Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Mrs. Eichelberger to the Wells Valley Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 27, Wells Tannery, PA 16691.
