Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

It was a nice weekend but those cool breezes were here and some folks we hear had some snow. Hope we will have a nice week as we celebrate Thanksgiving. Take time to give thanks for what the Master gives us.

We are sorry to report Mary Ellen Martz is still not doing as well as we would like to hear. We send get well wishes her way.

We extend our sympathy to the family and relatives of Bruce Bookheimer, who passed away on Friday.

Sorry to hear Bill Shepard had the misfortune of falling and had some injuries. Glad to hear he had no fractures. Get well wishes to him also. We also send get well wishes to Joan Shepherd.

Hustontown Fire Co. will be sponsoring shooting matches on Saturday, November 29; Saturday, December 20; Saturday, December 27, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Now you sharpshooters can try your luck and support our great fire company.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a food auction on Friday, December 12 at 6:00 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. miscellaneous food items will be auctioned off.

The fire company will sponsor an open stage Saturday, December 27 at 6:00 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. This is a chance to go out and eat supper, share your talent with singing or other talents. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the evening.

Thanksgiving Eve services will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26.

When we get containers with items from the firehall, churches or wherever, please take time to return them as they belong to someone.

As the hunters will soon be starting to hunt that special trophy, we wish all of them good luck and safe hunting. It seems we don't hear much about small game hunting. I guess there isn't much small game or hunters prefer the big game. Anyway, good luck and safe hunting.

Household hint: A frozen natural snack. Frozen grapes make a fine natural snack. Just lay them out on a baking sheet in the freezer so they freeze separately and then bag them for snacking later.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
