Anita (Bullwinkel) Pyatt, 84, Chambersburg, died peacefully at MennoHaven on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born on June 28, 1924, in Southampton, Long Island, N.Y.

She graduated from Nyack, N.Y. High School in 1942 and Mt. Sinai, N.Y., nursing school as a registered nurse in 1946.

She was a school nurse in the Somerset, Mass. school system for many years. She moved to Chambersburg in October of 1992.

She was active in the mental health system for many years in Massachusetts, having served as president of the Massachusetts Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Also, she was appointed by former Governor Dukakis of Massachusetts to the Mental Health Commission.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert S. Pyatt Sr., and their children: Dr. Robert S. Pyatt Jr. and wife Catherine of Chambersburg; Gale (Pyatt) Knepper and husband Rodney Knepper, Wells Tannery; Col. Richard L. Pyatt, Ret. USAF, and wife Zara of Fairfax, Va., and Lorene A. Pyatt of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
