Local Woman Scammed In Puppy Sale

A 34-year-old Warfordsburg woman was the victim of theft by deception when she recently tried to sell a puppy in a local newspaper. State police reported an individual from New Jersey saw the advertisement online and made arrangements with a shipping company to pick up the puppy. The Belfast Township woman was sent a check in the amount of $2,700 for the $100 dog and asked to mail the remaining money back to New Jersey. The check was fraudulent.
