Remembering Two Departed Veterans
To The Editor:
Yesterday, November 11, was a particularly special day for all veterans. Not only were we honored to serve our nation, we are recognized yearly as a result. These were special services conducted around the world. It occurs every year. Even in McConnellsburg.
However, this year was a little different for some of us here. Every morning between 8 and 10 a.m., there is a loosely knit group of the "coffee gang" that meets daily at McDonald's restaurant. The unofficial group is named the "board of directors." We render unmasked comments about anything from national, international to love events. Even personal slams are humorously offered.
We unexpectedly have had a sudden loss of two members in October, Earl Morris and Dick Clusman, both veterans of the armed forces and the board of directors. These members were honored at 10 a.m., November 11, at Lions Park. We planted two trees there and name plaques will be placed later. Yes, we still laugh and talk about them, in memory. Your friends, The women and men of the "Board of Directors" Gerry Minnich McConnellsburg
