Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

It was another nice weekend but those cool breezess are starting to blow in.

It was good to see a great turnout for election on Tuesday. Hope the candidates of your choice were elected. It would be nice if all those people on our voting sheet that are no longer living were taken off.

A nice crowd attended the covered-dish appreciation meal for Pastor Bill and Joan Kuhn on Sunday. It was a combination of Knobsville nd Fairview United Methodist churches. Hope we will have them with us for quite awhile.

Sorry to hear Bruce Bookheimer is not doing as well as we would like to hear. We send get well wishes to him.

Hustontown Area Fire Co. will sponsor shooting matches each Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a food auction on Friday, November 14, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Kitchen will open at 5:00 p.m. Miscellaneous food items will be available for sale during auction.

Happy birthday to Pat Berkstresser on November 11.

Donna DeShong had open heart surgery recently. We send get well wishes to her.

Harriet Hill and daughters Joan of Manheim visited with Kate Berkstresser on Friday of last week.

Herbert and Tammy Berkstresser returned home Sunday morning after a couple weeks hunting trip to Nebraska.

Hustontown Fire Co. was called to the home of Sarah Shaw on Friday night due to smoke from a furnace malfunction.

It is good to see that gas prices have dropped some. We also hope fuel oil will drop.

We hear Paul Byers spent a few days in the hospital. Glad to hear he is home and doing better. We send get well wishes his way.

Household hint: Remove crayon marks. Remove crayon marks on wallpaper or walls by sponging them with dry-cleaning solvent. If the dye remains on the wall, mix one teaspoon liquid bleach in one cup water and apply to colored stain. Be sure to test the bleach solution on an inconspicuous spot to determine whether it will damage the pattern of the paper.
