$1.3 Million State Grant To Pay For New Field
ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) - A $1.3 million state grant will pay for a new field and other major renovations at the Blair County Ballpark, home of the Double-A Altoona Curve.
Team officials say they helped secure funding for the work, which will include a new grass surface and drainage system.
Curve president and managing partner Chuck Greenberg says the project is needed because the team often had to postpone or delay games last season due to the poor condition of the field and drainage system.
Work is expected to be finished in time for the 2009 season.
Altoona is a minor-league affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
