The Eagles Club held a Halloween party for children on Saturday afternoon, October 25, with around 40 children in costumes attending. The club also had an adult party on Friday night, November 1, and the FOVA also had one on Saturday night with a good turnout.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Julia Chestnut, who passed away on Sunday, October 26. She was 89.

Birthday wishes to Ruth Bishop and Jean Pepple on November 5; Michelle Johnson on November 7; Florence Fix, Gary Benedick, Mary Johnston and Barney Wilt on November 8; Carol Edwards and Mearle Rosenberry on November 9; Sam Metz on November 10; Clair Lininger and Norma Ricker on November 11; Missy Barnett and Jan Hoover on November 11; Jade Anthony and Marilyn Dunkle on November 10.

Sympathy goes out to the families of Betty Keebaugh and Dick Clusman, who both passed away rather suddenly last week.

A'leese Dickerson has been named Public Opinion's female athlete of the week. She is a junior at McConnellsburg High School and plays middle hitter for the Spartan's volleyball team. In the summer of 2007 she played in the Water Cube, the site of this year's Beijing Olympics. Her parents are Brad and Carla Dickerson.

A seventh birthday party for Isabella Keefer was held on Saturday at the FOVA. She is the daughter of Johnnie and Crissy Buterbaugh and Randy Keefer. She has a younger brother, Xaivor.

Dick Seville is undergoing cancer treatments. Keep him and others that are ill in your prayers.

Patty Hershey and Kay McGarvey enjoyed a bus trip up to Norwich, Conn., last week.

Ruth Souders, a resident in Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care Unit, will be 96 on November 13.

Nelson Deshong spent a week in Chambersburg Hospital after emergency surgery and has made several trips back from complications after the surgery. Nelson had a birthday on October 31.
