Photo Contest Fulton County Parks and Recreation Commission is accepting photo entries through November 14 with the winning photo to be used in a community art room mural located in the basement meeting room of the Lions Club Community Building. Photos must depict a local location, event or even the people of Fulton County. Only adults and children residing in county are eligible to participate. Cash prizes given. Raffle Postponed Needmore Volunteer Ambulance Service has postponed the raffle for the children's 4-wheeler. Tickets will continue to be sold until February 15, at which time the raffle and another bingo bonanza will be held.

FCCCS Auction Fulton County Community Christian School is accepting donations of items for their Annual Christmas Dinner-Auction for both the silent auction and traditional auction. This year's event will be held Saturday, November 8, 2008, at the Hustontown Firehall. The silent auction will begin at 3:30 p.m., with the buffet dinner served at 5:30 PM. The traditional auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. Donated items may be dropped off at the school between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. With advance notice, arrangements may be made to have large items picked up. Holiday Toy Drive Odd Fellow Lodge #773 of New Grenada is collecting new toys to be distributed to area children this Christmas. Toy donations can be dropped off at post offices located in Hustontown, Burnt Cabins, Waterfall and Wells Tannery through the end of November. Toys must be new and in their original packaging.

Wild Fire Presentation Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies will feature a Power Point presentation and talk about fighting wild fires in the west and how it differs from fighting fires in Pennsylvania at their annual banquet, November 11, at 6 p.m., at Apple Bin Restaurant, Rte. 56, Fishertown. It will be presented by DCNR forest fire specialist Supervisor Ray Miller and service forester Dave Scamardella. The public is welcome. Dinner choices include roast sirloin, roasted chicken breast and Alaska pollock. Reservations must be in by November 3, payable to WOSA and mailed to Carole Tresselt, 110 Long Bend Beach Rd., Hopewell, PA 16650. WOSA members $16; nonmembers $25. Please specify your dinner choice. Holiday Greenery For Sale The Fulton County Community Christian School Booster's Club is taking orders for fresh holiday greenery to be delivered in time for holiday decorating. Items include a 26-inch balsam wreath, a 34-inch Christmas tree wreath, 24-inch wall or door swag, 18-foot balsam garland for an elegant look around doorways, porch rails and staircases and a 36- inch mailbox swag that attaches to any standard mailbox. A gift-boxed wreath and hanger may also be ordered and delivered as a gift to anywhere in the 48 contiguous states. Christmas Gift Program To sign up children for the Fulton County Catholic Mission Christmas Program call Sister Margie at 485-5917.

Operation Christmas Child Shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan's Purse project, will be collected at My Father's House Ministries beginning November 17, 2008. Please note that the church has moved to a new location at 1653 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, (one mile east of McCbg. off old Route 30). The hours for collection of the gift boxes will be November 17-24, 2008. Monday: 1-3 p.m.; Tuesday: 4:30-6:00 p.m.; Wednesday: 4:30-6:00 p.m.; Thursday: 1-3 p.m.; Friday: 4:30-6:00 p.m.: Saturday: 1-3 p.m.; and Sunday: 12-3 p.m. On Monday, November 24, the boxes will be delivered to the collection center in Waynesboro.
