Vandalism Probe After Penn St. Win Could Take Over A Week
(AP) STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Police say it could take 10 days before charges are filed against fans who uprooted two light poles and tore up street signs following Penn State's road win Saturday night over Ohio State.
State College Police Chief Thomas King says detectives are still reviewing video from the Internet and from street surveillance cameras to determine the identities of suspects.
Fans poured out onto a two-block area downtown following the dramatic 13-6 victory over the rival Buckeyes in Columbus.
About 25 officers used pepper spray and night sticks to break up the gathering. Some fans threw beer cans at police.
Property damage was estimated at about $7,000. There were no serious injuries.
