Wells Valley

By Stacey Mellott

Tom and Melinda Dermer of Wells Tannery recently completed the annual

30-mile MS Challenge Walk held in the beautiful and historic Brandywine Valley area on October 11 and 12. They were accompanied by Melinda's sister in-law, Jan Wolfe of Shippensburg, and Tom's nieces, Beverly Geller of Schellsburg and Penny Tew of Breezewood. This was the third Challenge Walk for Jan, second for Tom and Melinda, and first for Beverly and Penny. Funds raised in the annual MS Challenge Walk give people with MS access to specialized MS clinics, medical equipment loans, information services, symptom-management workshops and transportation. In addition, a significant portion of every dollar raised is used to support groundbreaking research designed to find new treatments and ultimately a cure for MS. A total of 260 walkers participated and donated more than $600,000 in the event this year. Due to the overwhelming financial support of friends and family in our communities, Melinda's Meanderers team of five donated nearly $10,000 this year. A sincere thank-you to everyone who supported in the fight against MS.

Veryl Dodson would like to thank Fred and Donna Dodson for the lovely bench they gave him as a housewarming gift. He also extends an invitation for all to come and visit, and try out his new bench.

Rocky Souders would like to say thank you for all of the cards and prayers during his stint in the hospital. A special thank-you to the Center Church, Pastor Ken Cornelius and neighbors.

Fiddle and Winnie Johnson recently hosted a covered-dish Halloween Party.
