Stephen M. Hoover
Stephen M. Hoover, 59, McConnellsburg, died Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Fulton County Medical Center.
He was born at Chambersburg Maternity Home, May 15, 1949, the son of the late Rev. Dr. David R. Hoover and Mary (Ingham) Hoover, who survives him of McConnellsburg. He was the husband of Linda (Strait) Hoover, whom he married May 15, 1993.
He graduated from McConnellsburg High School Class of 1967, Gettysburg College Class of 1971 and received his master's degree in counseling at Shippensburg University. He was a former teacher for Central Fulton School District, McConnellsburg, former owner of Steve-n-Al Lane, McConnellsburg, former owner of The Jolly Farmer restaurant, McConnellsburg, and was currently employed at Giant in Mc- Connellsburg, as a gas station attendant.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, McConnellsburg, Mt. Zion #774 Masonic Lodge, Mc- Connellsburg, where he also was a past master, member of Mc- Connellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of McConnellsburg Lions Club.
He was an avid bowler and sports fan, was everyone's favorite Santa, sang with the gospel group "Blessed Friends," and he will be greatly missed by his dog, "Cody."
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a brother, David R. Hoover II, McConnellsburg; a sister, Marilyn Barclay, Lititz, Pa.; nieces: Mary K. Seville, Mc- Connellsburg, and Anna Mary Barclay, Lititiz, Pa.; and a nephew, David R. Hoover III, McConnellsburg; two great-nieces and a great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie (Brant) Hoover.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mc- Connellsburg, at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21. Rev. W. Allen Reed officiated. Burial was made in Union Cemetery.
Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, was in charge of arrangements.
