Our Town

Maggie Riggs and daughter Lindsay Mellott spent a pleasant Sunday afternoon in Bedford visiting and having lunch with their Riggs sisters-in-law and aunts from Somerset and West Moreland counties, Laura Reed, Nancy Hay and daughter Sandy, who lives in Johnstown, and Mary Jo Hall.

"News" publisher Jamie Greathead is recuperating at the home of his daughter, Megan Harper, in Hagerstown following bypass surgery October 10 at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. He expects to return to his desk at the News" in the near future

John and Pam Ott spent the weekend in Michigan taking in Midnight Madness at Michigan State, where their son, Jordan, is employed.

Visiting with Emma Bivens over the weekend were her daughter, Delores Frankhauser, and family of Lancaster, granddaughters Linda of Kennett Square, Annie of Connecticut, and niece Linda Mellon of Cumberland, Md.

Tim and Diane Hann and John and Karen Bishop vacationed in Myrtle Beach, S.C., for a week recently.

Terry, Cris, Michaela and Micah Lynch of Halifax visited on Saturday with Dora Lynch and enjoyed the Fall Folk Festival festivities.

Sympathy goes out to wife Linda and the family of Steve Hoover, who passed away on Saturday. Steve was an organ donor, making that decision after my granddaughter, Abagael McGarvey, received two liver transplants when she was a few months old. Thank you, Steve.

Birthday wishes to Pat Mellott, October 14; Bob Covert, October 23; Joanne Harr, October 26; Bob Garlock, October 12; and Hulda Bain, October 19.

Herman and Judy Strait of Pleasant Ridge Road woke up recently one morning to find a mother bear and two cubs in their front yard.

The extended care residents at Fulton County Medical Center enjoyed a trip around the county to see the fall foliage last Wednesday. They went by van, assisted by the activities staff employees.

Shirley Guthrie of Florida and three of her daughters visited with her sisters, Norma Ott and Joan Winter and other relatives and friends in the area over the weekend.

St. Paul Lutheran Church congregation enjoyed listening to David Black playing special music on the piano on Sunday. David is the grandson of the late Mike Black and while in the area stayed with his uncle, Don and Doris Ray and Doug.

The Fulton Fall Festival was well attended over the weekend and the weather cooperated with nice fall temperatures.
