Lowell Eugene Younker, 73, Hancock, Md., died Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

Born December 28, 1934, in Hancock, Md., he was the son of Benjamin A. and Mary Rosalie Sensel Younker.

He was a graduate of Hancock High School, class of 1952.

He and his wife owned and operated the Bridge Restaurant, Hancock, for 55 years.

He worked for Washington County Election Board as chief judge for 34 years.

He was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church where he served as an acolyte for 10 years.

He was a member of James W. Bowers Lodge #173 AF&AM for more than 50 years, Hancock, and he was a member of Ali Ghan Shrine in Cumberland, Md.

He served many years as a volunteer at many area nursing homes.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Frances Catherine Caldwell Younker; a daughter, Kimberly, and husband William Fox, Hagerstown; a son, Jerry Younker, Aberdeen, Md.; a granddaughter, Erin Rae Fox, Hagerstown; two sisters: Dolores Y. Creek, Hancock; Yetta J. Souders, Palm Coast, Fla.; a brother, Arnold L. Younker, Hancock; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hancock. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt Jr. officiated. Burial was made at the convenience of the family.
