SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) - A man who says he tried to give a trapped skunk a respite from the hot sun is now in a bit of a stink with the city.
Ryan Turner, 30, says that in July a skunk was caught in a trap on city property near his house. After it spent a weekend in the trap, Turner says he moved it into his yard and gave it some shade.
Police say the city-owned trap was reported missing.
Turner says he thought the misunderstanding had been cleared up until last month, when he got a summons to appear in city court.
He's been charged with criminal trespass and failure to appear in court. He faces a fine up to $652.
