MHS Musical Gets Council For The Arts Grant

Noreen Mann has received a grant from the Pennsylvania Council for the Arts totalling $1,650. Arts Council board President Bob Fike presented the check at a ceremony in Chambersburg October 2.

Mann accepted the check on behalf of the McConnellsburg High School musical "Footloose," which will be presented in April 2009.

Since 1997 MHS musicals have been granted a total of $10,580 to help defray production expenses.

McConnellsburg Elementary School musical "Robin Hood," received a $1,000 grant. It will be presented in November 2008, under the direction of Hope Moore.

The PA Partners in the Arts (PPA) program is an initiative between local arts organizations and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency. State government funding for the arts comes through an annual appropriation by the General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Council for the Arts in Chambersburg.
