It was great to have such a beautiful weekend. Hope everyone got out to enjoy it.

We extend our sympathy to the family and relatives of Elton Schoen who was killed in an auto accident last week.

Willis Heefner wasn't doing as well on Sunday. We hope he is improved now.

Those who attended the Lynch reunion at Needmore Firehall on Sunday had a nice time of fellowship and, of course, lots of good food.

Harriett Hill and daughter Joan and son Steve of Lancaster and Manheim attended the reunion.

We hear Bill Henry isn't feeling so well. We send get wishes his way and also get well wishes to Alice Walker.

we hear a nice crowd attended the alumni banquet at Hustontown Firehall on Saturday night.

I wish to thank all those folks who sent flowers, cards and visited while I was in Fulton County Medical Center and also since I've been home.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a food auction on Friday, October 10, at 6:00 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. Frozen foods, snacks and other miscellaneous items will be for sale.

Hustontown Area Fire Co. will sponsor shooting matches beginning Saturday, November 1, at 1:00 p.m. More details will be published later.

Festival activities at Hustontown Firehall are a roast beef dinner on Friday, October 19, beginning at 5:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 20, an allyou can-eat old-fashioned slippery potpie at 11:00 a.m.; and a chicken barbecue beginning at 3:00 p.m. An open stage will be held in the dining hall at 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m., will be an all-youcan eat smorgasbord.

Household hint: Need a small ruler: Who says a dollar won't go as far as it used to. Actually a dollar bill is a perfect six-inch measure. It will work as a miniruler. Remember, if in need of a six-inch ruler as a dollar bill will work fine. Just have one handy.
