Robert L. Funk
Robert L. Funk, 79, State Line, Pa., died in his home, with family and friends, on Sunday, September 28, 2008, under Hospice care after a long illness.
He was born November 2, 1928, in the village of Dott, Pa., the son of the late Effie Hope (Taylor) and Lee Warner Funk.
He was drafted into the Army in 1946 and was stationed with the 82nd Airborne MPs at Fort Bragg, N.C. After his service tour ended, he returned home to run the family farm in Dott. Throughout his life, in addition to running the family farm, he worked as Greyhound Bus driver, Hagerstown police officer and he also worked for Mack Trucks, where he retired. While retired he continued to work part time as a security guard for Burns International Security at Pangborn Industries and Overnite Trucking. He had a passion for life, family and was known through out the area for his love of German shepard dogs. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sister Marjorie DeHart; children: Nadine Appel, Dwayne Funk, Bobby Carbaugh, Denise Cunningham, Kenny Funk, Jamie Funk, Joel Funk, Chris Funk and Patty Funk; grandchildren: Heather, Jacob, Holley, Erin, Alise, Jennifer, Kaila, Keri, Holley, Olivia, Whitney, Ryan, Courtney, Leah, Zoe, Alexis; and great-grandchildren: Tessa, Shaun, Madyson, Keira, Cole, Graeson, Kaira
He was preceded in death by grandson David Carbaugh
Memorial services will be held at Cedar Grove Christian Church: 5806 Flickerville Rd, Warfordsburg at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2008.
