County Parks & Rec Commission Sponsors Photo Contest

Cash prizes; winning photograph to be turned into mural

The Fulton County Parks and Recreation Commission announced last week photograph entries are currently being accepted from Fulton County residents in conjunction with the creation of a community art room.

"In looking at offering art-related projects such as painting, drawing, scrapbooking, pottery and basket weaving to local residents, we would like to create a community art room that not only lends a creative feel but also properly depicts Fulton County and its people," said Parks and Recreation Commission program director Chanin Rotz- Mountz.

As a result, photographs from current Fulton County residents will be accepted through November 14. Winners will be selected at the commission's board of directors' meeting on November 19. First-place prize is $50, and second- and third-place winners will receive $35 and $15, respectively.

"Photographs can be of a scenic location within the county or maybe even a favorite event such as the upcoming Fulton Fall Folk Festival," said Rotz-Mountz, who noted the top photo will be turned into a mural in the basement room of the Lions Club Community Building by Wells Valley artist Krissie Earley. The two additional winning photos could also be used as smaller inserts within the mural.

This contest is open to all adults and children residing in Fulton County, but immediate family members of the commission's board of directors or the program director are not eligible to participate.

Photographers are limited to only one entry and should include their name, address, municipality, phone number and a description of where the photo was taken on the back of their submission. Photographers wishing to have their pictures returned

should also include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. All submissions must be received or postmarked by Friday, November 14. Photo submissions should be mailed to FCPRC, P.O. Box 432, Mc- Connellsburg, PA 17233. Additional information can be obtained by calling Rotz-Mountz at 717-552-0071 or via e-mail at chaninr@comcast.net.
