Fran Mellott Accepts Her Softball Hall Of Fame Awards

Frances Mellott of Hustontown was inducted into the National Softball Hall of Fame (SSHOF) September 19, 2008. The SSHOF is located in Mustang, Okla. The induction ceremonies were held in Gallatin, Tenn.

More than 1,000 players and guests were present to see Mellott inducted into one of the most exclusive organizations in the country: Only six players were selected for 2008, and there were thousands of active and retired women softball players throughout the United States.

The induction remarks for Mellott were presented by David Mellott, son of Frances and her husband, Jerre. These remarks included not only a summary of her remarkable softball achievements, but her successes in many different roles, particularly being a truly decent human being.

Mellott was then presented a beautiful Hall of Fame ring, an attractive Hall of Fame plaque by director Ridge Hooks and a okay to the city of Gallatin.

Mellott's selection ot the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame was reported in an earlier issue of the "News."
