Norma G. Mellott, 90, formerly of Wood, Pa., died at the Church of the Brethren Home, Windber, on Sunday, September 21, 2008.

She was born on March 14, 1918, in Round Knob, Pa., a daughter of the late Roy C. and Mary (Wiest) Hinish. On January 27, 1945, in Mc- Connellsburg, she married Melvin E. Mellott. He preceded her in death in 1971.

She is survived by the following family: a daughter, Dolores, married to Ernest Geiger, Windber; a sister, Edna Poleck, Wood; grandchildren: Steven, Christopher, Linda, Brenda, Randy, Michael, Tammy and Kimberly; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Luke, Austin, Derek, Jaclyn, Kevin, Susan, Rhett, RyLan, Thomas, Penny and Lisa; and great-greatgrandchildren: Dustin, John and Lane

She was preceded in death by an infant son, daughter: Beverly A. Hawkins; and son-in-law: Raymond C. Hawkins of Nokesville, Va.; stepson: Lester Mellott; granddaughter, Irene Kinyon; great-grandson: Stephen Strope and a brother, Clair Hinish.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, Wood.

She was a member of Broad Top Senior Center, Saxton, and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and making crafts.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., at Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Suzanne Detterline officiating.

Friends may call at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be held in Sideling Hill Baptist Cemetery, Needmore, Pa.

If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Mellott to United Methodist Church, Wood, PA 16694.
