Marlin H. McQuade

McConnellsburg, 80

Marlin H. "Deke" McQuade, 80, McConnellsburg, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Altoona Regional Hospital.

He was born December 8, 1927, in McConnellsburg, the son of the late Floyd and Mildred (Hixson) Mc- Quade. He was married to Yvonne Souders on October 4, 1958.

He was employed by Grove Manufacturing in Greencastle as a laborer.

He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchild playing Little League baseball. He was known in McConnellsburg for butchering hogs.

He was a lifetime member of Mc- Connellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. and an avid hunter and gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Souders McQuade, McConnellsburg; a son, Dennis (husband of Kim) McQuade, McConnellsburg; a daughter, Tina (wife of Carl) Barnhart, Needmore; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a brother, Max McQuade, McConnellsburg; two sisters: Sarah Jane Hamil, Las Vegas, Nev., and Emma Jean DeShong, McConnellsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mildred Hixson McQuade; a son, Tim Souders; three brothers: Raymond, Dale and Donald McQuade and a sister, Neva Cutchall.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13, at Cito United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg. Burial was made in Union Cemetery. Rev. Rodney Truax officiated.
