Police Find Car Of Pa. Businessman Found Murdered
LIGONIER, Pa. (AP) - Police say they have found the stolen car of a western Pennsylvania businessman found shot to death in his apartment, which had been set on fire.
Police believe whoever killed 75- year-old William McMichael Jones also stole his car after setting fire to Jones' Ligonier apartment Wednesday morning. Police Chief John Berger says Jones was shot in the head, though an autopsy has yet to confirm that.
Ligonier is about 45 miles east of Pittsburgh, and the car was found in a wooded area about 10 miles away.
Jones is the grandson of the founder of the former Jones & Laughlin (LAWK'-lin) Steel Corp. He was also president of the Tribune Review Publishing Co. in Greensburg from 1983 to 1988. The company publishes the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and several other western Pennsylvania newspapers.
