Leidy And Rasp Win Path Valley Shootout

Feature winner John Rasp Feature winner John Rasp Dave Leidy in the Mini Stocks and John Rasp in Thunder Cars each took home $1,000 for winning the Four-Cylinder Shootout Sept. 22 at Path Valley Speedway Park.

Leidy led all 50 laps in the Mini Stocks. Ed Kirby passed Troy Eckenrode for second place on lap 11 and then stuck there to finish about a length behind Leidy. For the heads-up start Leidy, Gary Newell and Troy Eckenrode won the heat races, and the front-five finishers were Leidy, Kirby, Newell, Leroy Long and Tim Burkholder.

From his second place start John Rasp led the Thunder Cars for all 30 laps as Mike Brindle and R.T. Bolger battled for second place. At the finish line the front five were Rasp, Bolger, Brindle, Chris Smith and Mark Grove. Smith and Rasp won the heat races.

As the Path Valley season winds to a close, tickets are available at the track for the awards banquet on Nov. 15. The final points race is Oct. 10, featuring the Late Models and the 1000 cc Sidewinders. Two big shows remaining are the 8th Annual All Sprints Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 11, and the Strictly Stock Showdown on Sept. 27 that also features mechanics races and powder puffs for the ladies.
