River Oaks Seeks Volunteers For Christian-based Crisis Helpline

River Oaks Helpline is currently looking for volunteers. River Oaks Helpline seeks to be a resource in the local communities of Fulton, Franklin and Bedford counties by providing a free, confidential Christian helpline/prayer line for individuals to call for help with spiritual, emotional or physical needs. River Oaks also serves as a resource for information on agencies, programs and services that can provide further assistance to people in need.

"At this time we are seeking Christian volunteers to staff the helpline," says Carole Palmer, executive director of River Oaks. "We welcome anyone with a desire to learn how to minister to the emotional and spiritual needs of others."

River Oaks provides a variety of training sessions designed to prepare the Christan layperson for personal ministry within their families, workplaces and communities. Individuals who complete the training will be equipped to serve as a volunteer on the helpline. Classes will initially be held over nine weeks starting September 30 in Mc- Connellsburg and will meet on Tuesdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Registration for the course is $40 and includes training book and materials. River Oaks Helpline is also seeking donations to support its mission. Donations to the helpline are tax deductible.

River Oaks Helpline will begin taking calls seven days a week starting December 1, 2008. Anyone who is interested in volunteering or who wishes to learn more about River Oaks and its mission can call 717- 325-4230 (office number) or visit www.riveroakshelpline.org.
