Mellott Company has ceased crushing operations at the Francis Smith Pit (address listed below) and upon approval of final reclamation is seeking bond release. Please read following notice.

Notice is hereby given that Mellott Company of 100 Mellott Drive, Warfordsburg, Pa., has submitted an application to the PA Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of District Mining Operations, Cambria Office, for release of bond, which includes 57 acres of a non-coal (industrial mineral) surface mine permit area at the Francis Smith Pit, SMP No. 4273SM2, originally issued September 20, 1993. The surface mine is located at 4695 Thompson Road, Needmore, PA, 17238, Fulton County. Total bond on the 57-acre SMP is $32,000.00. The requested bond release area has been mined to design finish grades and restored to the post mining use of undeveloped open grassland/for-ested land.

Any objections, comments, request for public hearing, or informal conference must be submitted in writing no later than December 28, 2015 and must include the person’s name, address, telephone number, and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection. Submit to:
